We’re in the middle of the new curriculum implementation, with Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science and Technologies rolling out this year. These revisions are part of the ongoing refinement of the WA Curriculum, while still keeping a strong local focus and the familiar learning structures. What do these changes really mean in practice? Which parts feel familiar, and where are the genuine shifts? It’s natural to be balancing curiosity, confidence and a few unanswered questions as you explore what’s new.
What’s helpful to know is that these changes aren’t about turning existing programs upside down. Across learning areas, the revised curriculum tightens up language, clarifies progression and makes achievement standards more explicit. For many teachers, much of the content will feel familiar, the difference is mainly in how learning is described, sequenced and assessed, and how clearly expectations are set from one year level to the next.
From ClickView’s perspective, digital tools and resources work best when they sit comfortably alongside strong teaching practice by helping make curriculum alignment clearer, supporting consistency across classes and year levels, and giving teachers flexibility in how learning is delivered. The best technology doesn’t drive the pedagogy – it simply supports it.
With that in mind, we’re keen to share clear, ready‑to‑go educational videos and resources aligned to the revised WA curriculum. Our focus is to help you explore the changes with confidence and bring them to life in your classroom.
ClickView’s Topics are a great place to start, offering a curated experience that helps guide you through teaching and learning resources in a meaningful, logical way. They even have the option to filter by year level. Below, you’ll find the Topics we recommend when exploring the curriculum changes for each learning area.
The updated English curriculum uses more precise language and clearer learning sequences, making expectations at each year level easier to interpret. This is a refinement, not a rewrite, so you’ll see familiar content with only minor changes to sharpen expectations and create cleaner links between reading, writing and speaking. There is also a greater emphasis on learners engaging with First Nations Australian texts, along with other Australian and world literature.
For years 7-10 there are only the below changes to the names of sub‑strands:

HPE has been streamlined to better reflect contemporary practice, with a particular focus on mental health, wellbeing, consent, inclusion and respectful relationships. These concepts are clarified and introduced earlier, with a more consistent approach across year levels.
The two overarching strands remain the same, with only two sub‑strands being renamed slightly for clarity and consistency:

In Humanities and Social Sciences, there’s a continued focus on disciplinary thinking and meaningful connections to contemporary and local contexts, addressed further with the addition of some new content. The revised curriculum is designed to improve continuity across subjects, while retaining the core knowledge and skills. Overall, the focus is on deeper understanding and real‑world relevance.

Mathematics has seen a tidy‑up rather than an overhaul, with clearer sequencing and stronger connections to real‑world problem solving. The intent is to make progression more logical across Years 7–10 and reduce the guesswork when planning.

Technologies now offers clearer guidance on skills progression in both Design and Digital Technologies. The updates support more purposeful teaching of problem‑solving, systems thinking and real‑world application. The general content update across 7-10 focuses on the core themes of creating a stronger connection between Technologies and Society, and an increased consideration of sustainable factors for designed solutions.
Key strand and sub-strand changes include:

The languages updates focus on strengthening progression and making expectations around communication and cultural understanding more explicit. While there are no bespoke content changes identified for individual languages, some subjects are acknowledged as having more substantial clarification or contextualisation due to their nature.
Key strand and sub-strand changes include:
The Arts curriculum has been refined to better articulate skills development and creative processes over time. You’ll see clearer pathways for students to build, refine and reflect on their artistic practice across the years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content has also been refreshed to align with ACARA Version 9, with extra examples added to make things clearer for teachers. These examples are there to help, not to limit – teachers can still choose contexts that best fit their students and school community.
Key strand and sub-strand changes include:
As WA schools continue working with the updated curriculum, the changes are really about clearer expectations and smoother progression, not rewriting everything you already do well. It’s a chance to tweak, refine, and move forward with a bit more confidence in what’s required.
