Simplifying MARC records for tertiary libraries
We’ve launched a new way for tertiary libraries to manage ClickView MARC records, removing manual effort and giving library teams more time to focus on what matters most.
What’s new
ClickView’s video titles can now be automatically supplied to cataloguing and discovery services, including Ex Libris (by Clarivate), WorldCat Discovery (by OCLC) and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), reducing the need for manual uploads and ongoing maintenance by library teams.
This update includes:
- regular MARC updates supplied to key partner systems
- simplified workflows for library teams
Research and user feedback
Many tertiary librarians told us that manual MARC workflows were taking too much time.
Teams often had to request files, wait for them to arrive by email, and upload full MARC sets into their systems. This was difficult to maintain, especially as library teams become smaller and workloads increase.
We also heard that some institutions couldn’t receive MARC files at all because firewalls were blocking large attachments.
Integrating with the library databases used by our tertiary customers makes ClickView videos easier to find. This helps teachers and students quickly access the right videos to support learning.
What’s changed
ClickView MARC records can now be accessed through the Alma Community Zone (Ex Libris by Clarivate), OCLC WorldCat and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), giving tertiary librarians a simpler way to manage ClickView metadata within the systems they already use every day.
Ex Libris (by Clarivate)
Libraries using Alma can now find ClickView video titles in the Alma Community Zone, making it easier to keep their ClickView metadata up to date without extra manual work.

OCLC WorldCat
Libraries using OCLC services can now work with ClickView metadata more easily within their existing cataloguing workflows. OCLC uses its own matching process to help align records, supporting cleaner and more consistent metadata for ClickView’s video titles.

EBSCO’s EDS
In EBSCO-powered discovery, ClickView MARC records can now appear directly in search results, helping students and educators find relevant videos more easily when browsing for resources.

Tips and tricks
Here are a few ways to make the most of the new integration:
- Let the integrations do the work: Once enabled, ClickView MARC records are supplied to Ex Libris, OCLC and EBSCO in the background, reducing the need for ongoing manual uploads or maintenance by library teams.
- Check your discovery settings: Make sure ClickView is enabled as a source in your discovery layer so titles appear clearly in search results for teachers and students.
- Activate relevant collections: If you use Alma, ensure the ClickView collection you are subscribed to is activated in the Alma Community Zone to keep updates flowing automatically. For EBSCO customers, ensure the relevant ClickView collections are enabled in EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS).
As always, we’d love your feedback! This feature was formed in direct response to it. Keep sharing your ideas here so we can keep making ClickView better for everyone.
