Transforming regional education to empower students and teachers
"It’s made a real difference, teachers are able to find and use appropriate content far more easily now,” says Barrett. “The fact that it’s curated and ad-free means we can trust what we’re showing our students."

Overview
Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School, is a vibrant K–12 school serving around 600 students in regional New South Wales. Known for fostering curiosity, meaningful connections, and holistic development, Shearwater is committed to enriching its Steiner philosophy with purposeful digital resources in the secondary years.
“Digital technology is not part of the primary school curriculum. However, we’re seeing the benefits of integrating digital resources particularly in the upper years of the secondary school, “explains Yvonne Barrett, School Librarian.

The challenge
Like many regional schools, Shearwater struggled to access diverse, high-quality teaching resources. With a limited library, teachers often relied on YouTube, but ads, distractions, and a lack of educational vetting made it far from ideal for classrooms.
“Our library is small, and it’s hard to keep up with the needs of every subject area,” says Barrett. “A lot of teachers were turning to YouTube, but the issue was always advertisements and not knowing if the videos were really educationally vetted.”
This reliance on open platforms raised concerns about the quality, safety, and relevance of content being shown in classrooms.
The solution
Drawing on prior experience, Barrett introduced ClickView as a reliable, education-first video platform.
"Having seen ClickView in action at another school, I knew it offered teachers and students a safer, more reliable video resource"
Outcomes
Since adopting ClickView, Shearwater has seen an immediate shift in teaching practice and student engagement.
Teachers report greater confidence in lesson delivery, while students benefit from engaging, high-quality videos that support different learning styles across subjects.
Looking ahead Shearwater is committed to making the most of its digital resources and sees ongoing professional development as essential.
“It’s important that we’re continually supported to get the most out of these resources,” Barrett emphasizes. “Looking ahead, I’d love to see even more teachers and students using ClickView as part of their everyday learning.”
The school is also exploring further integration of audiobooks and other digital resources to provide even richer, more inclusive learning experiences.
Final word
For other schools weighing their options, Barrett offers clear advice:
“YouTube and similar channels come with the problem of ads and a lack of educational vetting. ClickView, on the other hand, is curated for education and free from those distractions. It just makes teaching and learning that much smoother and more effective.”
