Historic Charleston Foundation
Historic Charleston Foundation advances historic preservation through advocacy, community planning, and education, and owns and manages the Aiken-Rhett House and the Nathaniel Russell House, both preserved and operated as museums.
Founded in 1947, Historic Charleston Foundation is an educational, not-for-profit preservation organization. For more than 75 years, HCF has worked to preserve Charleston's historic resources and safeguard the region, purchasing the Nathaniel Russell House in 1955 and the Aiken-Rhett House in 1995. HCF continues to advocate for a future Charleston that honors and protects its people, places, culture, and community, expanding its concept of preservation to address resiliency, sustainability, and affordability.
