Living Maths
Living Maths is a Cape Town-based education program that gives students the opportunity to explore maths, science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, space and the arts - safely, and full of laughs. Its STEAM-based teacher workshops and physical and online classes use games and engaging problems to spark curiosity and get students thinking outside the box. Today the program reaches about 4,500 learners a week in areas as diverse as Gugulethu and Constantia, running a Maths Olympiad for grades R (K) to 9 since 2000, the Loving Maths Program for younger learners, and outreach projects with schools in previously disadvantaged areas.
Living Maths is a Cape Town-based education program built on the tag line "Future-proofing kids since 1995." It began in 1994 at SACS, and Steve Sherman took ownership on 1 February 1995, growing it into a wide-reaching STEAM education initiative. Today Living Maths partners with schools and communities across Cape Town, from Gugulethu to Constantia, running programs that build curiosity in maths, science, technology, engineering, robotics, coding, space and the arts.
