The Chattanooga Zoo is a non-profit, AZA-accredited institution owned by the City of Chattanooga and managed by Friends of the Zoo, Inc. Its mission is to engage, educate and inspire our community to better understand and conserve wildlife by creating meaningful connections between people and animals. A permanent zoo in Warner Park was established in 1937. Friends of the Zoo was formed in the 1980s to improve conditions, and the Zoo received AZA accreditation in 1998. Today guests can see more than 100 species, with exhibits including Gombe Forest, Himalayan Passage, Corcovado Jungle, and the Cape of Africa. The Zoo relies on community support to provide excellent animal care, improve facilities, and educate thousands of children each year.
