What’s New?

Australia has welcomed 438 new titles to its educational content library, while New Zealand has added 424 new titles. This ongoing expansion ensures that teachers and students have access to a diverse and growing mix of original productions and licensed series, catering to every year level and subject area

How is a Law Made? Ever wondered how a law, like the recent social media ban for under-16s, goes from an idea to legislation? Our new Miniclip takes students on a step-by-step journey through Australia’s law-making process, making civics education accessible and relevant. Watch it here.

From idea to legislation, this video was made to help students understand the journey of Australia’s world-first Social Media Ban, showing step-by-step how legislation like the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill 2024 is created in Australia. Laws like this shape our everyday lives and knowing the process helps us make sense of the decisions that affect us all.

Research Skills Miniclips: Research can be daunting for young learners. This animated series breaks down the basics, using dictionaries, asking good questions, note-taking, summarising, and referencing, into bite-sized, practical lessons. Explore the series here.

Miniclips: Research Skills is a crucial series to help young students start developing their understanding of how to research independently. It provides students with a step-by-step guide on how to use common resources like dictionaries and non-fiction texts, and explains skills such as note-taking, summarising and basic referencing.

New Content Partners

Beyond new releases, we’ve also expanded our partnerships to bring even more diverse perspectives and voices onto ClickView, making it easier for teachers to connect lessons to real-world issues and stories.

Getting Better Foundation: The Getting Better Foundation is dedicated to spreading non-partisan media and information literacy to help lessen polarisation and vitriol, foster resilience and peace, and to preserve democracy. Their mission: “To build trust through the truth about the positive evolution of human progress” lends itself to countering mis and disinformation, bringing awareness to parents, families, students, educators, and legislators of the importance of including media literacy lessons to hone critical thinking skills – especially in our youth.

Camp Quality: Camp Quality is an Australian children’s cancer charity. They bring positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer. Supporting children impacted by cancer, their original series Bloom is a heartfelt production exploring the emotional realities of diagnosis, mental wellbeing, and family dynamics.

PBS Eons: Journey through the history of life on Earth, from ancient microbes to Ice Age mega-fauna, with this engaging science series.

Movies + TV Highlights

Our Movies + TV collection continues to grow. This month’s picks range from hard-hitting documentaries like Trust Me to inspiring real-life stories such as Kate Reid’s journey in All Consuming, alongside imaginative adaptations like Magic Beach and musical journeys like Gravel Road.

Trust Me: Trust Me is an award-winning documentary that brings awareness to people’s need for media and information literacy to lessen polarization, foster trust and resilience, and preserve democracy. Educators can dive more deeply into the subject matter thanks to the companion guide produced with the News Literacy Project. The guide offers collegiate and parental discussion guides to go along with the film to encourage critical thinking in students using creative fact-checking, media consumption, and creation modules. Students are encouraged to utilize the seven quality standards professional journalists use when creating and sharing posts and content online, becoming more trustworthy communicators and citizens in the process.

Australian Story: All Consuming – Kate Reid: The inspiring journey of Kate Reid, from Formula 1 engineer to Australia’s croissant queen, overcoming personal challenges along the way.

Radical: A powerful film about a teacher’s innovative approach to unlocking student potential in a challenging environment.

Magic Beach: A screen adaptation of Alison Lester’s beloved storybook, perfect for sparking imagination in students of all ages.

Gravel Road: Follow Jay Minning and the Desert Stars, the world’s most remote rock band, in this musical journey through Spinifex Country, WA.

Finally, we’re spotlighting a practical teaching tool designed to optimise using video in the classroom.

Designed for all year levels, the “Hook and Activate” resource helps teachers set students up for success before watching a video. Each one-page guide includes a “Hook” to spark curiosity and an “Activate Prior Knowledge” task to connect new learning to what students already know. This approach supports inclusive practice, reduces cognitive load, and aligns with the Quality Teaching Model’s ‘Significance’ dimension.
