Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium advances marine science worldwide. The mission began in 1955 when pioneering scientist and Shark Lady Dr. Eugenie Clark founded a one-room marine lab in Florida. Today Mote advances groundbreaking marine research and translates discoveries to people of all ages. By developing science-based solutions to urgent problems, Mote works to save marine wildlife, restore critical ecosystems, help coastal communities, and uncover sustainable sources of food and medicine from the sea.
