Colonial Williamsburg

Deliver more than 500 standards-aligned videos covering United States history from multiple perspectives

Essentials is one of ClickView's most ambitious productions to date. Commissioned by Colonial Williamsburg for History.org, an online resource powered by America's leading museums and institutions, this series was built as a resource for the nation's teachers. Covering the fundamentals of American history across four grade bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) – from primary skills and concepts to documents and law, government and civics, pivotal events, biographies and more – the library of 500+ videos is the largest standards-aligned archive of its kind. Presenting American history through primary sources, expert insight, and leading subject matter experts in the United States, the series is designed to inspire curiosity and cultivate critical-thinking skills in elementary, middle, and high school students.

What ClickView delivered

  • Original content production Approximately twenty-two hours of original educational video content across more than 500 videos, delivered in two years.
  • Curriculum-aligned content A curated, vetted, institution-backed library selected specifically for classroom relevance and standards alignment, spanning primary skills and concepts, timelines, biographies, pivotal events and more, giving teachers a structured resource they can trust for accuracy and pedagogical integrity.
  • Client coordination Sustained collaboration with a range of leading partners and stakeholders, including Colonial Williamsburg, the Organization of American Historians, and Archipel, an Indigenous consulting firm, embedding academic and historical credibility into every stage of production.
  • Complex production management An in-house team of education specialists, animators, sound designers and voiceover artists, working in tandem with contributor scheduling and long-term archive building, reflecting the operational depth required to sustain a 500+ video library over multiple years.
  • Marketing Shortform content produced across platforms to drive traffic and build engagement with the History.org website, extending the reach of the core library beyond the classroom.
  • Data insights UX testing with a cross-section of U.S. teachers, generating direct insight into real classroom usage and informing how the library continues to evolve.

The Process

Essentials required ClickView to combine sustained editorial rigor with high-volume production: building and maintaining a 500+ video archive over a two-year period while continuously coordinating contributors, subject experts, and partner organizations.
