New Day Films
New Day Films unites a collective of filmmakers who offer a rich and diverse catalogue of educational documentary films. Explore a range of thought-provoking documentaries covering topics from social justice issues, to history, art and cultural studies.
New Day Films is an educational film distribution cooperative offering streaming films and DVDs to educators, community organizations, public libraries, and other institutions. Its collection features groundbreaking social issue documentaries, including Academy Award–winning titles, other prestigious honors, and powerful new works from an emerging generation of independent filmmakers. While its focus is educational distribution, New Day Films is committed to helping its films reach the widest possible audience and welcomes inquiries from individuals and groups seeking access to its titles. Founded in 1971 by four feminist filmmakers in response to the lack of equitable access, fair compensation, and meaningful distribution opportunities for women filmmakers, New Day Films continues to be guided by the values that inspired its beginnings: equitable partnership, powerful storytelling, and positive social change. Today, New Day is a cooperative of more than 270 filmmaker-members who collectively share the work of distribution, operations, and leadership, creating a sustainable model for collective ownership.
