The Amoeba Sisters are two sisters on a mission to demystify science with humor and relevance, creating videos, GIFs, comics, and resources such as handouts and their Unlectured Series. In their human form, they're two sisters from Texas: Brianna Rapini (Pinky), who writes the scripts, records the voice, and designs resources, brings a master's in biological sciences and a background teaching public high school science, while Sarina Peterson (Petunia) creates the comics and GIFs and times them to Pinky's audio. Their focus is high school biology - fitting, since Pinky is a former high school biology teacher - though they often hear from viewers that their videos work well for introductory college biology too. The channel began in 2013, after Pinky looked for a way to make traditional lectures less lengthy, starting with a video on enzymes.
