South Carolina Aquarium
Leading the way to connect people with water, wildlife and wild places. Education is at the core of our mission, and we strive to provide an engaging, exciting experience combined with lessons in biology, environmental science and conservation. With focused attention on state and regional curriculum standards in STEM areas, the Aquarium offers wonderful benefits to school groups. Their mission is to inspire conservation of the natural world by exhibiting and caring for animals, by excelling in education and research, and by providing an exceptional visitor experience.
The South Carolina Aquarium is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in downtown Charleston that inspires conservation of the natural world. For more than 25 years it has served as a world of natural wonder, a hub of STEM education, a driver of conservation action, and a sanctuary of fun. Visitors connect with more than 5,000 animals representing South Carolina's rich biodiversity, including the Sea Turtle Care Center, a working hospital dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured sea turtles. Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Aquarium also operates the Boeing Learning Lab as a hub for STEM education programming across the state.
