Mexic-Arte Museum
Mexic-Arte Museum presents art by established and emerging artists from the United States, Mexico and Latin America, with a permanent collection of over 5,000 important historical and contemporary works. Its Day of the Dead parade, begun in 1984, is the largest and longest-running Dia de los Muertos celebration in Texas, and the Museum serves more than 75,000 visitors annually through exhibitions and education programs.
Mexic-Arte Museum was founded as a non-profit in 1984 by artists Sylvia Orozco, Sam Coronado, and Pio Pulido in the Arts Warehouse in downtown Austin, sharing the art and culture of Mexico with Texas. It is dedicated to enriching the community through the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture for visitors of all ages, and is the Official Mexican and Mexican American Museum of Texas.
